IMPORTANT DATES BEFORE WE GET TO THE MEAT OF THE EMAIL! Saturday, April 19th noon-2pm Protest at the intersection of 3rd and Soscol. this is an un-hosted event - no speakers or formal agenda - just you with your signs, your American flags, your bullhorns and your VOICE! Tuesday, April 29th 6-8ish Our 2nd MEET UP! at our new favorite bottle shop & bar DECANT ! Wine by the glass or bottle, snacks galore- lots of room inside and out and they want us to tag them in posts! Let’s get together and see where we are, what we can do and how we can do it! They are at 2999 Solano Ave. Click on this for their website! Holy Moly - I have to apologize for last week’s email - It was a bit scary and not very action oriented and I’m sorry. I will get back on track here with action items and LINKS to the dreadful info - that you can choose to click or not to click. :) Here are your Democrats doing great things this week : Bernie + AOC! - my god, are you following the tour? They are everywhere and they are speaking to tens of thousands at each event. Hope abounds! Noise works! Bernie Sanders : 1 Church Street 3rd Floor Burlington, VT 05401 (800) 339-9834 Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez : 250 Cannon House Office Building Washington DC 20515 (718) 662-5970 Melanie Stansbury New Mexico Congress watch her go She’s comfortable with conflict, well-spoken and extremely smart - one to watch. Let’s write to her and tell her how much we appreciate her fire! P.O. Box 51493 Albuquerque NM 87181 Oppose the SAVE Act (HR22) A voter Suppression Bill - this passed in the House with Democrats Jared Golden (ME), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA), Henry Cuellar (TX) and Ed Case (HI) voting with the Republicans Now the bill will move on… I recommend sending these 4 Dems a strongly written letter - in an envelope - to not only overload their mailboxes - but to let them know how we feel about their purposeful voter oppression. Golden : 179 Lisbon Street Lewiston ME 04240 Perez : 1053 Officers Row Vancouver WA 98661 Cuellar : 602 E Calton Road #2 Laredo TX 78041 Case : 1132 Bishop Street Honolulu, HI 96813 You can call Alex Padilla (202) 224-3553 and Adam Schiff (202) 224-3841 and tell them to vehemently oppose this bill and do their best to sway Republicans to do the same. The Supreme Court is being made a FOOL of by this administration - send them a post card or letter letting them know that we EXPECT MORE FROM THE HIGHEST COURT IN THE LAND. We are a laughingstock and Trump is the cause. They MUST require his cabinet members to follow the rule of law and abide by the courts ruling. SCOTUS Supreme Court of the United States 1 First Street, NE Washington, DC 20543 202-479-3000 I know that post carding and calling doesn’t seem like it will do anything - and marching and protesting FEELS GREAT, but what does it really do?? It makes NOISE. It creates COMMUNITY. It shows others who might feel frustrated and defeated that they are not alone AND it keeps our elected officials, judges and police departments aware that we are NOT GOING TO SIT DOWN AND TAKE IT. Do not obey in advance. Peaceful, non-violent protesting is how us gals got the right to vote, to have our own bank accounts, credit cards and homes….. Just THINK if our grandmothers would have just sat at home watching it all unfold on tv? Where would we be? If at all? Keep it up, fellow Hive. :) The noise that all our collective groups are making is pushing judges to do the right thing and fight back against this lawless administration….. we are definitely making a difference!
